Masters In Motion – Day Two

Day two is done, and if you walked out of the Alamo Drafthouse theater and weren’t completely inspired, then you might want to check your pulse! Today’s speakers were Vincent Laforet, Khalid Mohtaseb, Tyler Ginter, and Jonathan Bregel.

Vincent started the morning off strong with his Composition and Imagination segment, in which he stressed thinking outside of the box in filmmaking. Then he brought the fun in the form of the Phantom Flex, showing off its perfect slow motion capture capabilities. Water balloons were popped, people were slapped, fire was thrown and pumpkins were smashed, all in super cool, super dramatic slow motion.

The second half of the day was devoted to three incredibly talented and knowledgeable filmmakers: Khalid Mohtaseb, Tyler Ginter and Jonathan Bregel. The first half of their presentation was devoted to production workflow, and was an in depth look at how the team fuels their passion through their personal projects which lends vision to their professional projects. They also gave some invaluable tips to not just filmmakers trying to make it in the industry, but anyone who has or is looking to go into business for themselves. Then, the guys gave a great look into lighting theory, delving into some of their own experiences and explaining everything from basic to more complex lighting setups. Inspirational and informative, Khalid, Tyler, and Jonathan were a great conclusion to the day and left us all wanting to know more!

As always, the tweets were flying. Here’s a few from today:

Just like last night, the fun continued well after the event itself, as everyone joined together in true Texas fashion to shoot some mechanical bull riding with the Phantom Flex. And you’ll never guess who decided to “take the bull by the horns”!
