STORYTELLING WITH SECOND SHOOTER

Our friends at Story & Heart just completed an inspiring collaborative project, Storytelling Parade, where filmmakers from around the globe told the story of individuals or organizations doing good in the world (more on that below).

When it came time for Stillmotion and Story & Heart to create their film for the Parade, they selected Chess for Success, a local non-profit in Portland, Oregon that helps kids develop life skills through playing chess. The goal of the film was to add a sense of “cool” to the game of chess and the kids who play it. They chose our Second Shooter to realize that vision, incorporating a motion controlled opening shot paired with an attention grabbing VO to give the film a hip look and feel right from the start.

From DP, Joyce Tsang, “The Second Shooter was really easy to learn and incredibly simple to use. Setting up the shot took no time at all resulting in more free time for me than I’ve ever had on a set —basically I just snacked on gummy bears while the opening shot rolled. :)”

A little more about Story & Heart and Storytelling Parade

All of us at Kessler are Storytellers. Our medium are the tools we design and manufacture to help push the craft of filmmaking. We understand how the right gear impacts a film and we’re committed to our role in that process. That’s why from the very beginning, we chose to be a Foundational Partner with Story & Heart, working beside them to develop a close-knit community of filmmakers; learning, collaborating and sharing their work through a unique story driven licensing platform.

Storytelling Parade brought together filmmakers from round the world to tell stories of people doing good. The challenge was simple; create a film with 1 day of shooting, 1 camera, 1 main character, and 1 clear takeaway for your audience. The result was over 300 filmmakers sharing amazing and moving stories from 6 continents, 24 countries, and 127 cities. To celebrate, Story & Heart put together the following collaborative film highlighting many of the films in the their 1st Storytelling Parade Challenge.
